Each module consists of four workshops.
Workshop are designed to be approximately 60-75 minutes long, but are easily adapted to different class times.
These four workshops are typically taken over the space of 1 to 4 weeks.
The first three workshops tackle the environmental component with fun, hands-on activities designed for a classroom space.
The fourth and final workshop is a cooking class where students learn how to apply their new knowledge while preparing food.
All workshops can be done in a traditional classroom space or in a specialized foods room.
How It Works
Contribute What You Can
It costs $1,200 to bring EcoCooks to your classroom, including educator facilitation, equipment, ingredients, curriculum development and lesson resources. The true cost of developing and sustaining EcoCooks is even greater, with grants and external funding helping to bridge that gap.
To keep this program accessible to as many students as possible, we ask schools to contribute what they can based on their capacity. Every dollar directly supports bringing EcoCooks to more classrooms.
Please select the contribution tier that best reflects your school’s ability to support. Your selected contribution level will not affect booking priority or program quality.
$1,200 – Full Delivery
Covers the full cost of delivering EcoCooks to your classroom, including educator facilitation, equipment, ingredients , curriculum development and lesson resources.
$600 – Program Support
Covers approximately half the cost of program delivery, with the remainder supported through subsidy.
$100 – Material Contribution
Supports the cost of the equipment, ingredients and lesson resources used in your classroom.
$0 – Full Subsidization
If your school is unable to contribute at this time, please select this option.
We at Elements believe that every young person should have access to meaningful environmental learning experiences, regardless of financial capacity. Every contribution helps make that possible.
Want to contribute but not sure how? You may wish to:

-
Yes! To provide teachers with flexible options, EcoCooks has been developed with multiple modules that can be taken independently, as a series, back-to-back, or spaced throughout the year.
-
Each module is 3-4 workshops long. Workshops are designed to be 60-70min long but are easily adapted to different class times.
-
The program is connected most strongly to:
Elementary: Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, Math, Applied Design, Skills, health, and Technologies
Secondary: Science, Social Studies, Food Studies (ADST / CTS / CTF), and Career & Life Skills
Since we will be cooking and preparing food with students, the final workshop is best run in a classroom with access to food preparation facilities (like a Food Studies room set-up), however; we can adapt the workshop for classrooms without a kitchen.
-
We believe that all youth should have the opportunity to take part in inspiring environmental education programs. As such, EcoCooks is dedicated to providing economically accessible programs that are appropriate for youth with diverse physical and neuro-emotional learning needs as well as English language learners. From the Classroom
“My students thoroughly enjoyed the program. Each lesson began with a Land Acknowledgment which is so important. The program was fun and engaging. The lessons incorporated several cross-curricular connections between Food Studies, literacy, math and science. Many families struggle with food insecurity and the lessons about reducing food waste were extremely relevant and impactful. The recipes the students prepared allowed them to try new foods and were thoughtfully chosen to encourage students of all backgrounds and abilities to participate. The EcoCooks program provided opportunity for the students to think critically and discuss the food they consume everyday. The program was able to model how to incorporate environmental stewardship in little changes we can all make everyday.”
