Join us on Friday, April 24, 10 am-2 pm for: Pop-Up Workshops at TELUS Spark: How to "Beet" Food Waste with EcoCooks
Why waste food when you can transform it? Learn how small actions to reduce and upcycle waste in creative ways (like creating art from paint made from food scraps) can add up to a big impact.
Sessions run every 30 min in the Atrium from 10:00 am - 1:30 pm. For all ages (under 7 must be accompanied by an adult)

Free Workshop: EcoCooks X City of Delta
Learn how food gets from the farm to your plate and why so much of it goes to waste. This hands-on, interactive workshop explores the environmental impacts of food waste and practical ways to prevent it at home and beyond. Participants will take part in engaging activities, then put learning into action by cooking and sharing a simple, delicious meal designed to reduce food waste. This free workshop combines learning, cooking, and reflection, and is suitable for all skill levels.

Organized by the Society Promoting Environmental Conservation (SPEC) and Master Recycler participants, this event brings together experts, industry leaders, and community members to explore innovative strategies and solutions for reducing plastic pollution.
This is a highly interactive virtual conference. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and give suggestions on how we can all take actionable steps to rethink our waste in Metro Vancouver and beyond.

Pro-D Day with Metro Vancouver: Connecting to Nature and Zero Waste: A Classroom to Community Field Experience
Hosted by Metro Vancouver School and Youth Leadership Programs, this professional development field trip to Deas Island Regional Park and the Vancouver Landfill and Zero Waste Centre will inspire teachers to make learning about nature and sustainability personal, meaningful, local, action-oriented, and fun!
Available for Vancouver School Board teachers of grade 5 to 12.

Connect with teachers and partners who share a passion for teaching and learning about, and for people, place, and planet
Get to know (and take away) strategies and resources to connect students to nature and the systems we depend upon every day – at home, school, and in the community
Be introduced to Zero Waste Place, a program of Elements Society and the City of Vancouver available to VSB Schools
Take a field trip (bus transportation provided!) with your peers:
Tour the nearby Vancouver Landfill & Zero Waste Centre and discover how waste is managed (and reduced) onsite and across our region
Experience the rich outdoor learning environment of Deas Island Regional Park and consider how to extend learning into nearby parks
Enjoy a light and tasty vegetarian lunch
Take away tools and resources, including a Metro Vancouver satellite map, to support connecting to local sustainability topics – in your classroom and beyond!

In this fun and interactive workshop, participants will gain an appreciation for where food comes from as well as the connections between food and the health of the planet.
Working in groups, participants will learn how some of our favourite foods are produced and play a game to test our knowledge of where they come from.
Diving deeper, we will consider what different foods need to grow and explore the impacts they have on land, water, and air. Participants will leave feeling empowered to take environmental action with every bite.
